Got a haircut today

and the lady was awesome and cut it exactly how I wanted. It’s technically called a “pixie cut” but its basically like a girl version of a boy’s haircut. The lady said at the end “wow you really can pull off the pixie cut, not many girls can”. And this is definitely a compliment…but also really bothers me. Why can’t every female “pull off” a short haircut? Because we are expected to have long flowing hair? Because having a short haircut make us look like a male? Because it is not gender stereotypical for a girl to have short hair? Ugh it bothers me so much. I will never have long hair. I prefer my hair to be as short as possible and the only reason I EVER grow it out a little bit is for other people. I hope someday things will change and it won’t be abnormal or simply “pulling it off” to have a hairstyle that’s different than what’s expected from society.
